1928 – 2016
NORWAY — Erland L. Foster, 87, peacefully passed away on Monday, June 20, with his loving family and some special friends by his side.
He was born Oct. 10, 1928, to Joel and Laura Colby Foster. He attended Paris schools, where he played football and baseball. After high school he joined the U.S. National Guard and continued reserve duty for several years after.
On June 29, 1951, he married his beautiful wife, Jeannie Bessey; together they had three children, Richard, Becky and an infant son, who died at birth. He worked for more than 40 years for Paris Highway Department and retired in 1988.
He and Jeannie enjoyed almost 30 years of retirement. In that time, they camped, snowmobiled and farmed — raising beef cattle and wonderful veggies. They were lucky people!
Erland is survived by his wife, Jeannie, who resides at Market Square Health Care Center; his son, Richard Foster and his wife, Vickie; daughter, Becky Roy and her husband, Peter; and two very special grandchildren, Annie Foster and Joel Foster and his partner, Hannah Lincoln.
