HARTFORD — Dr. Ken Hamilton will present “Living the Directed Life” to the Pinpoint of Light Spiritual Camp at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 9,at the Hartford Town Hall, 1190 Main St.

Hamilton will give an overview of his extensive background in helping countless others — first as a surgeon, and then as the guiding force of HOPE, an organization that focuses on helping people develop healing attitudes for living successful lives and moving forward in the face of serious illness.

He will talk about the work of Earl Nightingale, who helped him from the moment he was introduced to him in 1975. Nightingale had come up with a work based on years of study of what made people successful — and it wasn’t about money.

“It was ‘the progressive realization of a worthy ideal,’ and we’re all born with one,” he said.

HOPE came into being in Hamilton’s surgical practice in 1987. It’s a nonprofit organization that teaches others how to do the work, and they in turn have guided another 1,000 HOPE group meetings in Maine and New Hampshire.

Admission to the event is a suggested donation $25 for Pinpoint of Light.
