FARMINGTON — Three corporals at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office are being promoted to sergeants as part of a one-year contract approved by commissioners June 30 with the Fraternal Order of Police, which represents patrol deputies.

New sergeants Nate Bean, Matt Brann and Kevin Hartley will also get a pay raise under the agreement, county Deputy Clerk/Deputy Treasurer Vickie Braley said Wednesday.

The contract does not include a cost-of-living increase or raises for patrol deputies. However, it does call for a $900 signing bonus for new deputies.

The union also agreed to take a less-costly health insurance plan that will save the county $16,542, she said.

A four-year contract that expired June 30 included 2 percent increases for the first three years and a 3 percent increase for the final year.
