LEWISTON — For the fourth year in a row, people throughout the state have voted The Public Theatre in Lewiston as the Best Theater in Maine in the Down East Magazine readers’ poll.
A banquet celebrating the 2016 “Best of Maine” winners was recently held in Portland and co-artistic directors Christopher Schario and Janet Mitchko were there to pick up their award.
Nationally recognized for its artistic excellence, The Public Theatre is a professional Equity theatre with a mission to produce Broadway-quality theater that is financially accessible to the general public. The Public Theatre produces a selection of uplifting and provocative contemporary theater from Broadway and off-Broadway, featuring professional actors every October through May.
