FARMINGTON — Two St. Albans residents are accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of electronics and other items in June from the Farmington Wal-Mart, according to Detective Marc Bowering.
Tori Gifford, 38, and Anthony Nigro, 37, were each charged with two felony counts of theft by unauthorized taking by summons, he said in a news release on Thursday.
A conviction on each charge is punishable by a maximum five years in prison and $5,000 fine.
Farmington police, with assistance from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant of Gifford and Nigro’s residence in St. Albans on June 17.
It was the culmination of an investigation into ongoing thefts of electronics and other items being stolen by Gifford and Nigro at the Farmington store, Bowering said.
The thefts were first identified by Wal-Mart Loss Prevention.
Nearly $6,000 worth of suspected stolen items were recovered at the residence, he said.
Gifford was taken into custody on a probation hold on June 17 on an unrelated matter in Somerset County, he said.
The two are expected to appear in court in Farmington in August.
