LEWISTON — Master accordionist Normand Gagnon will perform at the next La Rencontre at 11:25 a.m. Thursday, July 14, at The Dolard and Priscilla Gendron Franco Center.
La Rencontre is not restricted to French speakers or those of Franco descent. All are welcome to attend this monthly meal and event. The meal is homemade meatloaf, potatoes with gravy, and all the fixings.
Following the meal will be the concert by Gagnon and his group of musicians, including his son Francis and other local favorites. Gagnon was born in Québec and moved to Maine in 1971 at age 30.
As July 14 is Bastille Day, the group will play traditional Québécois and other favorites for the holiday, commemorating the storming of the Bastille in 1789.
Several raffle prizes will be drawn.
Cost of meal and programs is $10 per person. Doors open at 10 a.m.
