ANSWER: Slim Fast has yet to remove those particular snack bars from their website and, according to the corporate website, you can find them locally at the following national retailers: Wal-Mart, CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens and Rite Aid. You can also order them online at Amazon.com. However, all of those sources list the bar as being out of stock for an undetermined length of time and for unknown reasons.

Sun Spots was unable to find specific information about why that is the case, however, in her research she did note that there is a nationwide voluntary recall on certain products containing peanut butter due to a recent salmonella and/or listeria outbreak that is currently under investigation. A similar product, the Atkins Day Break Peanut Butter Fudge Crisp Bar, was listed as part of a recall in early June.

With any luck, your Slim Fast bars will reappear soon. Keep watching for them.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In case you would like to share this info with your readers, like the one who inquired with you on Wednesday, July 6, the SeniorsPlus Education Center is offering two sessions of Windows 10 assistance in August:

Using Windows 10

Dates:  Two Options: Wednesday, Aug. 10, or Wednesday, Aug. 17

Time: 1 – 3 p.m.

Instructor: Tim Verrill, SeniorsPlus, network and facilities manager

This class is for those who already have Windows 10 and want to get the most out of it. Learn about new features and what’s changed in Windows 10, how to work with the menu, settings, security, Windows store, updates, etc.

There is no charge, but we request people register by calling (207) 795-4010.

We are offering two classes this month, but apparently this topic is on everybody’s minds right now, as both sessions currently have a wait list. Even though they are full, we encourage people to call if they are interested, because that often drives us to repeat the program.

Windows 10

(Repeat from June, due to interest)

Dates: Two options: Thursday, July 20, or Thursday, July 27

Time: 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.

Instructor: Tim Verrill, SeniorsPlus

Are you thinking of going to Windows 10? Perhaps you’ve already made the jump? Here’s everything you need to know, including how to stay where you are, how you can roll back if you’re within 30 days of installing, and how to make the most of Windows 10 if you’re already using it.

Thank you. — Corey, Development and Marketing for SeniorsPlus.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you in advance, we are asking for your help in locating someone who can repair electric wheelchairs. We have heard that there is someone on Pleasant Street in  Lewiston who does this, but do not know who or exactly where he/she is. We are in hopes that this person or someone else with this expertise will see this request and respond to Sun Spots, or directly to us at (207) 753-0337. If there is no answer, please leave a message. We appreciate your response. — Ray, No Town.
