WINSLOW — Eric R. Ledoux, 52, of Winslow passed away peacefully on Monday, July 4, surrounded by everyone he loved in the comfort of hospice care.

Eric was born in Lewiston and raised in Winslow, the son of Richard and Irene (Murray) Ledoux. He graduated from Winslow High School, and went on to receive an undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Southern Maine. Married in 1986, Eric settled his family in West Gardiner and watched his children grow into adults, supporting them through both academic and athletic activities.

Though his early career started with construction, his true passion was aviation. Eric was a commercial rated pilot, single and multi-engine and flight instructor. He worked a short stint as a Flight Instructor and utilities line inspector out of the Portland Jetport. While supporting his family as a residential real estate appraiser, Eric served in the U.S. Civil Air Patrol where his highest achieved rank was captain. He served in the positions of mission pilot, check pilot and mission check pilot. The missions he flew for C.A.P supported The Maine State Forest and Game Warden Services, Maine DEA, U.S. Navy and Air Force. As a flight instructor volunteer for the C.A.P. Summer Powered Flight Academy, Eric guided student cadets to first solo flights. Eric’s illness abruptly interrupted this passion and he returned to his roots in Winslow to ensure a support team for his family as his illness progressed.

Eric is survived by his wife and best friend of 30 years, Sarah Dumont Ledoux; his two children, Renee Dionne Ledoux and Jason Eric Ledoux; his mother, Irene Murray Ledoux of Auburn; his sister, Karen Leclair and husband, Pete Leclair, of Auburn; several nieces and nephews and members of the Dumont family. He is also survived by his good friend, Scott Cook, with whom he could talk music, sports and solve the world’s problems.

Eric was predeceased by his father, Richard Ledoux; and his sister, Joyce Ledoux Bridger.
