The Auburn-Lewiston Rotary Club Criterium will take place Sunday, July 31, in downtown Lewiston.

Bike races will be on a 1-km loop around the Kennedy Park area. There will be six races during the day, lasting from 35 minutes to one hour, depending on the category.

Racers from all over New England will average 25-30 mph on the four-corner course. There will be free racing at noon for children 10 and younger. The Maine Cycling Club will provide extra bikes for youths who do not have their own. The name of each child who participates in the free race will be entered into a drawing to win one of three children’s bikes.

The criterium race format is much like a short track stock car race with tight aggressive pack-style racing. Close drafting is key in this style of racing, which makes for an exciting race.

Race proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine’s Auburn/Lewiston Clubhouse.
