RANGELEY — Pianist Andy Kahn of Philadelphia will return to perform his annual solo concert at the Wilhelm Reich Museum at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 16.
Performance takes place in the conference center at Orgonon on Dodge Pond Road.
Kahn is committed to preserving “The Great American Songbook.” His Music by Intention concerts are the result of decades he’s spent researching popular standard songs, which evolved into swing and jazz, America’s enduring contribution to the arts. He guides his audiences on a musical romp through the historic Golden Age of American music by Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Richard Rodgers & Lorenz Hart, Harry Warren, Johnny Mercer and others from this musical era. With bebop and mainstream jazz taking cues from these timeless songs, he also lends his personal improvisations to a selection of well-known jazz tunes.
Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger. Refreshments will be served after the performance.
Tickets are available at the museum’s office and bookstore at Orgonon, and at the Rangeley Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce.
