1934 – 2016

BRUNSWICK — Georgette Irene (Caron) Duval, 81, passed away Monday, July 11, with her family by her side.

Georgette was born July 31, 1934, in Lewiston, a daughter of George J. and Irene J. Thibault Caron. She attended Saints Peter and Paul School and was a graduate of St. Dominic High School in Lewiston. She also attended the Auburn School of Commerce.

She worked for Marie’s Bakery, a division of Country Kitchen, in Lewiston and was appointed branch manager of their Auburn outlet.

She is predeceased by her loving husband, Raymond A. Duval, of Brunswick, whom she married on May 25, 1957, at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Lewiston. Besides being a mother to three children, she was a partner in her husband’s accounting and tax business and a communicant of St. John’s Church.

Georgette was a volunteer for 12 years on the crisis intervention hot line; volunteered as a receptionist at the 55 Plus Center in Brunswick; loved to travel, read and spend time with her seven grandchildren. Georgette is best-known for her background music which played throughout the whole day in their home. Her hobbies included stained glass and other art projects, but she became best-known for her scratch art and pastels.

Surviving are her two daughters, Monique J. Smith of Woolwich and Colette M. Wagner of Durham; son, George W.R. of Sudbury, Mass.; seven grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and two step-great-grandchildren.
