DIXFIELD — Lisa Keim of Dixfield was selected at a caucus Tuesday night as the Republican Maine Senate candidate for District 18.
She replaces Gary Knight of Livermore Falls, who withdrew from the race because of health reasons.
“As a mother of three, and as someone who loves our state, I will work hard to ensure future generations have the opportunity to prosper here,” Keim said.
“My priority as a senator will be to empower job creators and make Maine a place that provides a stable and unencumbered business environment,” she said. “I will also be an advocate for our state’s students — recognizing that sometimes we need a creative approach to ensure all children receive an effective, quality education that fits their unique needs.”
Senate District 18 consists of the towns of Livermore, Livermore Falls, Andover, Bethel, Buckfield, Byron, Canton, Dixfield, Gilead, Greenwood, Hanover, Hartford, Hebron, Lincoln Plantation, Lovell, Magalloway Plantation, Mexico, Milton Township, Newry, North Oxford Unorganized Territory, Peru, Roxbury, Rumford, South Oxford Unorganized Territory, Stoneham, Stow, Sumner, Sweden, Upton, Waterford, West Paris and Woodstock.
