PARIS — It was a high scoring affair as Bessey Motors defeated Augusta 8-7 in American Legion action Thursday night.

Augusta jumped out to a 5-0 lead after its first at-bat with RBIs from Ryan Sinclair, Kolbe Merfeld and Hunter Williams. Bessey responded in the bottom of the first, scoring four runs of its own on RBIs from Matt Smith and Jake Beauchesne.

Bessey starter Troy Johnson helped his own cause with a two-run single and Bessey scored on an error as Bessey took a 7-5 lead. 

Sinclair tied the game as his double in the top of the sixth brought two runs home for Augusta.

Smith scored in the bottom of the seventh to give Bessey the 8-7 victory.

Pastime 8, Highland Green 1

TOPSHAM — Pastime used 12 hits and jumped out to a 4-0 lead after three innings and rolled to an 8-1 victory over Highland Green (6-10) in an American Legion baseball game Thursday.

Evan Cox doubled and Hunter Landry, Austin Wing and winning pitcher Gage Cote each had two hits.

Pastime remains undefeated at 16-0.
