Rumford Hospital shares this designation with only 140 other hospitals in the world and is the only hospital in Maine and the only critical access hospital in New England to receive designation.

For an organization to earn the distinction, it must successfully undergo a thorough review process that documents foundational quality initiatives in creating a positive work environment — as defined by nurses and supported by research.
