GREENE — Singer-songwriter Max Ater, an up-and-coming pop/soul artist from southern Maine, will perform at 2 and 7 p.m. Friday, July 22, at the Araxine Wilkins Sawyer Memorial.

His father, comedian Johnny Ater, will join him at 7 p.m. for a music/comedy combination show.

Max Ater, 23, is best known for winning Maine’s Got Talent! in 2012. He has a renewed purpose and energy due to his collaboration with Elevated Management Group. This year, he will be backed by longtime band mate Dan Bodmer on bass and Drew Weber on drums.

His earlier work has included multiple home demos and the 10-track EP “Up ‘till Now.”

At an early age, Max was inspired by artists like Jamie Cullum, Norah Jones, John Mayer and Elton John. In high school, he began composing original music, which led to an array of accolades including a win from the Independent Music Awards, appearances on television programs, and regular airtime on the radio.

He is the recipient of the highly coveted Vox Pop Award.

The event is free and open to the public.
