TURNER — School Administrative District 52 Adult and Community Education at 486 Turner Center Road has announced upcoming classes and camps.
Beginning Monday, July 25:
Hornet Pride Girls Basketball Camp: 8 to 10 a.m., grades two to five; 10 a.m. to noon, grades six to eight. Girls will develop fundamental skills and learn the game from Leavitt Area High School basketball coaching staff and players.
Little Stingers Soccer Camp: An introduction to soccer for beginners and experienced players. Campers will work on individual skills through drills and games with the Leavitt girls’ soccer team. The emphasis is on having fun while learning. Students should bring a water bottle and wear shin guards.
Polymer Clay Play: Youths ages 6 to 10 will make whimsical objects that are colorful, fun and creative. Polymer Clay Camp focuses on having fun while taking home one-of-a-kind crafts.
Hornet Pride Football Camp: Players entering grades two to six will focus on developing football skills and having fun while learning from the Leavitt Area High School/Tripp Middle School football coaches and players. Cleats and a molded mouthpiece are needed, but gear will be provided for players participating in the Turner Athletic Association football program.
Sea Glass Necklace: Discover the secrets to drilling glass, stones and shells. Attendees can add colorful beads and spirals using wire-wrapped loop techniques to create unique jewelry. Those attending may select from the instructor’s collection of sea glass, beach stones and shells, or bring their own favorites.
Beginning Monday, Aug. 1:
Children’s Theatre Camp: Attendees can explore the world of theater through games, skits and lessons. A performance showcasing talent will be presented on Thursday evening for parents and friends. For grades one to six. Campers should bring lunch, water and wear comfy shoes and clothing. No flip flops permitted.
Digital Photography Camp for ages 8 to 12: Students will spend the mornings outside with their camera and learn about subject matter, composition, light, technical information and creativity. Color prints from each day will be printed and taken home on the last day. Campers need a basic point-and-shoot camera.
Seat Weaving – Splint: Any chair with four dowels for seat frame rails can be splint woven. The seat will be exceptionally strong, durable and comfortable. Those attending should bring a stapler, mat knife, scissors and hand clamp.
Image Transfer: This one-night class is on Tuesday, Aug. 2. Using this innovative technique, digital prints are transformed into art pieces to be hung in the home. Each student makes several transfers on a variety of mediums.
