1935 – 2016

AUBURN — Theodore “Bud” Edmund Richmond Jr., 81, of Madrid Township passed peacefully on Wednesday, July 13, at the Hospice House in Auburn.

He was born on July 3, 1935, in Phillips, the second of six children born to Theodore “Ted” and Jennie “Peggy” Richmond. He grew up in Phillips, graduating salutatorian of Phillips High School in the class of 1953. In 1955, he married Doris Douglass. They made their home in Terryville, Conn. and had four children together.

In the early 1970s, Bud returned to Maine, making his home on the bank of the Sandy River in Madrid. He was a partner in M&R Logging, got his realtor license and owned and operated Bear Hill Variety in Madrid. In April of 1979, Bud became an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Many members credit his sponsorship for helping to pave the road to their recovery. He was a lifelong member of the Masons. Bud was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fly fisherman.

He is survived by his children, Kim Richmond White and husband, Dale, of Madrid, Curtis Richmond and wife, Tina, of Wilmot, N.H., Kellie Richmond Kamens of Madrid, Douglass Richmond and wife, Karen, of Madrid; his sister, Lois “Sis” Franklin of Auburn; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Amy, CJ, Chelsea, Eric and Megan; his two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Jacob; several nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Theodore Richmond Sr.; his mother, Jennie “Peggy” (Lawrence) Richmond Pearl; his stepfather, Leo Pearl; and his siblings, Beverly Raymond, Rhoda McLaughlin, Carl and Peter Richmond.

The children of Bud would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice House for the sincere loving tender care given to their father and the gracious hospitality shown to family and friends.
