1979 – 2016

NORWAY — Chester “Chet” E. L. Merriam III, 37, of Sumner passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 17, after a long, hard fight with cancer, with his family by his side.

He was born June 28, 1979, in St. Johnsbury, Vt., to Chester Jr. and Valerie Merriam.

Chet worked driving big rigs at CPS in Lewiston and loved his job and his boss, Ann, and all the people he worked with. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, hunting, camping, riding his four wheeler, driving his mustang and spending time with his family. His favorite thing was riding his Harley, he said it was the most free-est feeling he ever felt. He, by far, lived his life to the fullest. He fulfilled his dream of going to Graceland and going to bike week in Laconia, N.H.

Chet’s hobbies included collecting Elvis and Marilyn Monroe memorabilia, cooking, carpentry, making things for Blake and the ocean.

He leaves behind his wife, Deborah; and his seven children, Blake his “best buddy” as he called him, Bridget, Chester IV, Colton, Travis, Jonathan and Cameron; his parents; his brothers, Jeremy and Jason; his sisters, Kelly and Tonya; his grandmother, Regina; and many aunts and uncles.
