1921 – 2016

LEWISTON — Mary Caron Archibald, 95, of Monmouth died Sunday, July 17, in Lewiston at Marshwood Nursing Center.

She was born on Feb. 8, 1921, in Mattawamkeag, a daughter of the late Cora (Bilyea) and Ligori (Tom) Coro/Caron. She was the ninth of 14 children. She met and married Elmer Lloyd Archibald of Bartlett, N.H., on July 28, 1945. They were together for 50 years and raised a son, Timothy.

Mary enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking, gardening and visiting with all of her brothers and sisters and their families.

She is survived by her son, Timothy Archibald and his wife, Carol, of Sabattus; former daughter-in-law, Kathy of Lewiston; three grandchildren, Kandice Sage of North Carolina, Michael Archibald, USMC and Kimberly Archibald of Lewiston; one sister, Annie Hanson of Turner; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd; and her siblings, Mildred Rosebush, Paul Caron, Lawrence Ayotte, Dennis Caron, Kay Pratt, Matthew Coro, Helen Leavitte, Maurice Caron, Cecile Leblanc, Agnes Grimmel, Alvina Biron, and Cora Tremblay.

The family wishes to thank the staff of both Marshwood Nursing Center and Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice for the care of their mother.
