DEAR SUN SPOTS: I read your column all the time. Could you please tell me where Simard-Payne Park is located? The pictures look good, so it must be nice to see it. Thank you. — No Name, No Town.

ANSWER: Simard-Payne Law Enforcement Memorial Park was, until 2007, known as Railroad Park. It is located along the river in Lewiston and can be accessed via the Riverwalk trail in Auburn or from Oxford Street in Lewiston. The best place to park for access to either side of the trail is on Main Street in Auburn or on Oxford Street in Lewiston, according to androscogginlandtrust.org.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do you know of anyone locally who would like to have used greeting cards? St. Jude’s Ranch for Children used to accept them, but I don’t know if they still want them. I would need the address of where to send them if they do. Thank you for your very informative column. My husband and I enjoy reading it every day. — Clara, Roxbury.

ANSWER: St. Jude’s Ranch for Children does still accept used greeting cards for its Recycled Card Program. You can mail your used cards to 100 St. Jude’s Street, Boulder City, NV 89005. They accept all kinds of occasion cards, but are unable to take Hallmark, Disney or American Greeting cards at this time.

As for a more local organization that might accept such a donation, maybe a reader will let us know if one exists. You might consider checking with your local day cares, schools, recreation departments, summer camps and churches to see if any of them would use such a donation for craft projects. Another possibility is a scrapbooking club or organization.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for someone in the Oxford-Norway area who reupholsters chairs. They can call me at (207) 539-2579. Thank you. — No Name, Otisfield.

ANSWER: Not too far from the Oxford Hills area is Just A Mere Farm and Upholstery located at 1156 Lewiston Road in New Gloucester. They reupholster furniture and you can reach them by calling (207) 926-3933. Another option is Albert’s Upholstery at 271 Middle Ridge Road in Bridgton. You can reach Albert’s by calling (207) 647-5156. If there are any readers who offer this service more locally, Sun Spots hopes they will contact you directly and also send an email to be added to Sun Spot’s Rolodex.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Is the woman who played Liz on “The Blacklist” the same woman who now plays Laurel on “BrainDead?” My sister says, “Yes.” I say, “No.” — Bill, South Paris.

ANSWER: In the interest of keeping family harmony, Sun Spots is happy to settle this (hopefully friendly) dispute. Bill, you are correct in this instance. Megan Boone is the actress who portrays Liz on “The Blacklist,” while it is Mary Elizabeth Winstead who plays Laurel on “BrainDead.” The two do seem to share some physical likenesses, which may account for the confusion.
