LIMERICK (AP) — A Maine man has been charged in the hit-and-run death of a Massachusetts man in Limerick.

York County Sheriff William King Jr. says 41-year-old William George of Sanford was arrested around 9 p.m. Wednesday. He is charged with driving after license suspension and accident with death. It wasn’t immediately known if he has an attorney who can comment on the charge.

Authorities say 47-year-old John Mullin was hit near state Route 11 by a car that rolled onto the sidewalk and fled the scene on July 4.

The Wilmington, Massachusetts, man died at the Maine Medical Center in Portland.

The sheriff’s office says it was told that the car belonged to someone else and that George didn’t have permission to use it.

He’s due in court on Friday.
