DIXFIELD — The Regional School Unit 10 school board unanimously appointed Michael Cormier as interim superintendent Monday night.
He was appointed following a 15-minute closed session and will be paid on a per-diem basis.
Cormier, who retired three years ago after leading RSU 9 for 20 years, will fill in when current Superintendent Craig King leaves in August to become superintendent of the Gray-New Gloucester school district.
The board hopes to hire a full-time superintendent within a few months.
In other matters, several people were appointed to positions for the 2016-17 school year. Among them were Tiffany Thone and Crystal Crowell, as first- and sixth-grade teachers, respectively, at Hartford-Sumner Elementary School. Maria Logan was appointed half-time art teacher at Rumford Elementary School. She is also half-time art teacher at Stratton Elementary School.
Other appointments included Sarahmarie Gervais as a special education teacher at the Pennacook Learning Center, Kayla Capponi as a social worker at PLC, and Laurie Raymond as a part-time clinical supervisor at PLC.
Dirigo High School teacher Will Lane was transferred from his current position as special education teacher at Dirigo High School to English teacher at the same school.
Buckfield Junior-Senior High School Principal George Reuter received permission Monday for the Class of 2017 to travel to Florida for six days next spring. The class will hold a series of fundraisers so all students who want to go will be able to.
The board also approved 35-cent-per-hour raises to nutrition services employees in the district’s schools.
Business Manager Mary Dailey received permission to move money from cost centers to pay for facilities maintenance at Mountain Valley Middle School.
