LEWISTON — Led by one of Maine’s best known fiddlers Greg Boardman and Friends will perform a concert on the Bates College quad on Thursday, July 28, as part of Bates’s free summer concert series “Concerts on the Quad.”
The outdoor event takes place at 6:30 p.m. on the Coram Library porch.
Boardman has fiddled throughout Maine since the early 1970s, performing solo and with bands including the Maine Country Dance Orchestra, Old Grey Goose, the Gawler Family and Jessie Boardman.
Boardman’s friends in the July 28 concert include the eclectic pianist Neil Pearlman; bassist Mali Obomsawin, who also works with the trio Lula Wiles; and percussionist Ness Smith-Savedoff.
The rain site is the nearby Peter J. Gomes Chapel, also on the Quad at 275 College St. FMI: 207-753-6953.
The last in the three-concert series will feature trombonists of the Sequenza Quartet on Aug. 11.
