NORWAY — The Western Maine Art Group will host a First Friday reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 5 at Main Street Gallery, 426 Main St.
 
The gallery will exhibit the work of fine artists and artisans living and working in western Maine. It is free and open to the public.
 
Featured in August will be the collages of Jo Northrop Thomas, Western Maine Art Group’s Artist of the Month. She recently won first prize for painting at the Norway Arts Festival.

The award-winning artist has had her paintings and sculptures featured at the University of Wisconsin. In Maine, she has exhibited at Frost Farm Gallery, the Lajos Matolcsy Arts Center, Main Street Gallery, and McLaughlin Gardens in South Paris.

 
In Georgia, she has exhibited at the Harris Arts Center in Calhoun, The Colonnade, Ringgold Art & Frame Gallery in Ringgold, the Tunnel Hill Heritage Center in Tunnel Hill, and Michael’s Fine Arts & Framing in Dalton.
 
In Tennessee, she has exhibited at Reflections Gallery, the 1401 Gallery, Food Works Restaurant, the Eastgate Towne Center in Chattanooga, and at the North River Civic Center in Hixson.
Main Street Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
