1930 – 2016

FARMINGTON — John G. “Jack” Hogan, 86, passed away Saturday, July 30, at Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center in Farmington following a long illness.

He was the husband of Darlene Ladd, with whom he shared a wonderful, active life since 2001. Jack was born on March 22, 1930, in Lynn, Mass., the son of William G. And Marie B. (McKeon) Hogan. Along with his sister, Willette “Billie,” he was raised in Lynn, Mass. Jack graduated from Lynn English High School, then furthered his education at Norwich University, graduating with the Class of 1951.

He served his country in the U.S. Army as a first lieutenant, being stationed at Fort Knox, Ky., during the Korean Conflict in the 131st Tank Battalion. He taught tank gunnery, weapons and military law and also coordinated sports and activities on base for the regiment. After his military service, he joined General Electric in 1953, coordinating military and commercial jet engine manufacturing in his hometown of Lynn, Mass.

Retiring in 1988, Jack moved to a log cabin in Maine. He was very active in his new community with the Gold Leaf Institute and SeniorsPlus. Jack was a member of the United Methodist Church in Farmington and president of the Men’s Group for five years.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Hogan of Farmington; his two sons, Gregory J. Hogan and wife, Sally, of Vermont, Gary W. Hogan and wife, Barbara, of New Hampshire; his two stepsons, Jeff Ladd and wife, Kathy, and Michael Ladd; his stepdaughter, Beth Khoury, and husband, Ernest; four grandchildren, Trevor and Patrick Hogan, Shanade and Cassidy Hogan; two stepgrandsons whom he enjoyed, Carter and Cooper Khoury; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Marie Hogan; and his sister, Willette “Billie” Hanson.
