MEXICO – The Police Department responded to 88 incidents over the past week and a half, including the following:

* July 30, 11:03 p.m.: Wendy Varney, 41, of Essex Avenue in Rumford was arrested and charged with domestic assault. Police Chief Roy Hodsdon said she was taken to the Oxford County Jail in Paris.

* July 31, 11:02 p.m.: Jonathan Nurse, 42, of River Road in Mexico was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, terrorizing and failure to submit to arrest or detention. Hodsdon said Nurse had a probation hold on him and was taken to the Oxford County Jail.

* Aug. 1, 3:09 p.m.: A Harlow Hill resident reported someone stole prescription drugs and cash from their home. Police have suspects.

* Aug. 2, 10:29 p.m.: A Middle Avenue resident reported someone was trying to break into their house. Hodsdon said by the time officers showed up, nobody was there.

* Aug. 3, 1:52 p.m.: Mountain Valley Middle School reported someone attempted to break into the school over the weekend. Hodsdon said he doesn’t believe anyone gained entry, though damage was done to the window screens.

* Aug. 3, 3:46 p.m.: Officers received a complaint from the Recreation Department that someone did hundreds of dollars of damage to their field. Hodsdon said there are suspects and an arrest will be made when more information is gathered. The suspect will likely be charged with criminal mischief, Hodsdon said, or aggravated criminal mischief depending on the extent of the damage to the field.
