DURHAM — Two people were taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston after the motorcycle they were on went off the road and struck a telephone pole.
Androscoggin County Deputy Troy Young said that Shawn Dewitt, 52, of New Hampshire was driving his 1999 Harley-Davidson west on Route 9 around 7 p.m. when he lost control of the bike. He was reported to be in critical condition with internal injuries and two broken legs.
His passenger, Brittany Quint, 28, also of New Hampshire, suffered one broken leg in the crash.
Young said that the two were part of a large motorcycle group that had been riding around all day.
The official cause was under investigation.
Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department responded along with Durham Fire and Rescue and Lisbon Emergency.
