1924 – 2016

FARMINGTON — Elmer F. (Ted) Walker Jr., 92, of Poland, died Saturday, Aug. 6, at Orchard Park Nursing Home in Farmington.

He was born in Gardiner, March 4, 1924, the son of Gladysmae Waterhouse Walker and Elmer F. Walker Sr. He was a veteran of World War II, a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force, serving in the South Pacific.

He was past president of the Maine Association of Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors, past president of the Associated Building Contractors, member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers, Kora Temple, Tyrian Lodge No. 73, Poland Spring Preservation Society, past chairman of the Poland Community School Board and the Poland Scholarship Committee.

He owned and operated Ted Walker Inc., Mechanical Contractors in Poland Spring from 1962 through 1993.

He is survived by son, Peter Walker and his wife, Nancy Walker, of Sequim, Wash.; son, Thomas Walker and his wife, Ann Walker, of Farmington; son, David Walker and his wife, Rebecca Walker, of Auburn; grandson, Corey Walker and his wife, Amy, of Pueblo, Colo.; granddaughter, Emily Walker of Pocatello, Idaho; grandson, Eric Walker and his wife, Erin, of Merrimack, N.H.; grandson, Jameson Walker of Helena, Mont.; grandson, Christopher Walker and his wife, Carissa, of Kingston, Wash.; granddaughter, Jennie Stephens and her husband, James, of Willow Spring, N.C.; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Charlotte L. (Grant) Walker; brothers, Robert Walker Sr. and J. Gerry Walker.
