Seniors plan Tot Lot BBQ

AUBURN — The First Auburn Senior Citizens will meet Wednesday, Aug. 17, at the Hasty Community Center for the Tot Lot BBQ. The meeting will start at 11 a.m. followed by lunch and bingo.

There were 51 members present at the last meeting. Attendance winners were Mary Tassinari and Midge Demers; Pot of Gold, Jeannette Sutton, Lorraine Raymond and Ruth Perry; and 50/50, Pat Castner, Carol Layton and Rosemarie Allen.

Annabessacook Lake annual meeting 

WINTHROP — The annual meeting of the Annabessacook Lake Improvement Association will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Augusta West Kampground off Holmes Road.

There will be a pancake breakfast at 8:30 a.m. followed by a business meeting at 9:15 a.m. with guest speaker Ethan Buuck of the Maine Warden Service.

Vendors sought for craft fairs

LEWISTON/SABATTUS — The annual Christmas in October will be held Oct. 7 and 8 at the Dominican Sisters’ Convent at 61 Old Lisbon Road in Sabattus.

The Loaves and Fishes’ holiday craft fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Cavalier Hall, 855 Lisbon St., behind Staples, in Lewiston.

Vendor tables at each fair can be reserved for $30. Vendors can set up that day as early as 7 a.m. Table reservations must be made by Please reserve your table no later than Friday, Sept. 16.

There will be only one specialty vendor per product. The tables are 8 feet and will have chairs.

Golf tournament for Make-A-Wish

AUBURN — The annual Maine Oxy Charity Golf Tournament in support of Make-A-Wish Maine will be held Saturday, Sept. 17, at Fox Ridge Course.

All proceeds from the tournament will be donated to help grant wishes for children battling life-threatening medical conditions across Maine. The average cost of one wish is $7,000.

Fight Back Festival and 5K 

NEW GLOUCESTER — The Fight Back Festival and 5K will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, at Pineland Farms.

Registration for the 5K, the festival’s primary event, is open. Proceeds from the run and festival will support the Cancer Community Center in Portland.

There will be live music with local band Fight at the Family Picnic, a Kid Zone, a Warrior Walk for cancer survivors and fighters and their supporters, refreshments and local beer for those 21 and older.

All registered runners, walkers and cyclists 18 and older will have a $100 minimum fundraising requirement.

Bridge club lists winners

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners on Aug. 8 were, first, Jeanine Kivus and David Lock; second, Nancy Lindgren and Luke Merry; third, Leslie Lord and Les Buzzell; fourth/first in B and C, Paul Clement and Roger Labbe; and second in B, Dick Allen and Richard Balian.

Winners on Tuesday, Aug. 9 were, first, Mike Quinn and Mike True; second, Roger Labbe and David Lock; and first in B, Richard Balian and Paul Clement.

Games are played at 9 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays in the Seniors’ Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A partner is always guaranteed and all bridge players are welcomed.
