HOLDEN — A Hampden man has been charged with selling heroin after more than 1,000 bags of the drug were seized Wednesday as part of an investigation by Holden Police and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Investigators say 30-year-old Peter James “PJ” Tardiff, of Hampden, was reportedly in possession of a significant amount of heroin, destined for resale in Holden and in Penobscot County.
Further information revealed that Tardiff was wanted on an outstanding traffic-related arrest warrant out of York County.
On Wednesday, police located Tardiff in Holden and took him into custody on that arrest warrant.
In a search after the arrest, police say they located more than 1,000 bags of heroin and an assortment of prescription medication in Tardiff’s possession. The street value of the heroin is over $15,000, according to police.
Tardiff was arrested and charged with Class “A” aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs (Heroin). The charge was aggravated because Tardiff was staying at a location within 1,000 feet of a Holden School.
Tardiff was transported to the Penobscot County Jail where bail has been set at $15,000 cash.
