WILTON — Police say they have arrested a Wilton woman on a charge of assault on a child younger than 6.
Cassandra Lamoureux, 28, was arrested Tuesday after she left marks on the child’s body during a spanking, Police Chief Heidi Wilcox said.
The child was in Lamoureux’s care at the time and was taken to the hospital to be checked, Wilcox said.
Wilton officer Derek Daley arrested Lamoureux on a felony charge because of the child’s age.
A referral made police aware of the situation, Wilcox said.
As of Thursday morning, Lamoureux remained at Franklin County Detention Center in Farmington.
