UPDATE: Auburn man dies of injuries from Durham crash

DURHAM — Police and fire officials responded to a pair of bad crashes Saturday night, one that sent a woman to the hospital via LifeFlight and another that was discovered by a paramedic responding to the first crash.

Police received a call about a crash on Rabbit Road at 6:15 p.m.

Chief Deputy William Gagne from the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that Hailey Bouchard, 26, of Brunswick was traveling on Rabbit Road toward the intersection of Hallowell Road when she lost control of her car. It rolled over and she was ejected from the vehicle.

“We had a Durham Rescue member who was first on the scene and he was the one who recognized the need for LifeFlight,” Durham Fire & Rescue Lt. Milt Simon said at the scene.

Bouchard was stabilized and flown to Central Maine Medical Center with serious injuries.

A half-hour after the crash, her 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier could be seen in a field near the road with the hood and trunk both open and the side of the car dented.

Someone responding to that call discovered the next crash on Newell Brook Road at 6:38 p.m.

“One of my paramedics came across it going to the other scene,” firefighter C.J. Larrabee said.

An older man was next to his fallen motorcycle, near a crest of a hill.

“He was laying right there in the grass (instead of the road), thank God,” he said.

Gagne said Kenneth Kilby, 77, of Auburn, had been driving his black 1988 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he left the road and crashed. He wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time.

Lisbon Emergency transported Kilby by ambulance to CMMC to be treated for serious injuries.

Officials from the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office were at both scenes investigating.

Bouchard was in fair condition late Saturday night, according to a nursing supervisor. No information was released about Kilby’s condition.
