FRYEBURG — A Lovell woman was arrested Saturday when her car was pulled over on Main Street for suspicion of operating under the influence and she resisted detainment.
Roberta I. Blood-Kemp, 40, was driving a blue 2008 Ford F-150 before the altercation took place at 10:30 p.m., Fryeburg Police Chief Joshua Potvin said in a news release.
According to Potvin, Officer Kevin Davis attempted to restrain Blood-Kemp when she tried to fight him off. Davis used a Taser on her, but it did not stop her. She fled the scene in her truck and a chase ensued. She reached speeds of 80 mph as Maine State Police and Bridgton police helped in the pursuit.
“Sometimes Taser deployments are unsuccessful due to both probes not making contact with the suspect during a struggle,” Potvin said. “We will be looking further into why the Taser was non-disabling during this incident.”
Blood-Kemp was eventually detained at her home on Main Street in Lovell. She was taken into custody and transported to the Oxford County Jail where she was held on $1,000 cash bail.
Blood-Kemp was charged with eight offenses: refusing to stop for an officer, refusing to submit to arrest, operating under the influence (refusal), escape, refusing to sign summons, failure to register vehicle, failing to provide evidence of insurance and sing a mobile device while operating a vehicle.
Blood-Kemp is scheduled to appear in Bridgton District Court on Nov. 15.
