JAY — A local woman and her daughter were taken to the hospital Tuesday after the truck they were riding in went off Crash Road and hit a rock embankment, Sgt. Russell Adams said.
Kayla Emerson, 21, of North Jay, was heading south toward Livermore when her daughter, Lorraine, 2, called to her mother and Emerson turned to look at her.
The truck drifted off the road and struck the embankment.
The child was secured in a child safety seat.
Emerson, who is pregnant, and her daughter were taken by a NorthStar EMS ambulance as a precaution to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, Adams said.
The 2001 Dodge Dakota pickup was demolished, he said.
