LEWISTON — The Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce will host the next seminar in its Finance Matters Series from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the Chamber’s conference room at 415 Lisbon St.
The topic is “Social Security Strategies — When Should You Begin Receiving Your Social Security Benefits?” presented by Mindy Davis of Cornerstone Wealth Planning.
As people near retirement, one of the biggest financial decisions they need to make is when to begin receiving Social Security retirement benefits. In this seminar, attendees will learn what their full retirement age is and how their benefit is determined; how retiring earlier than, or later than, their full retirement age will affect Social Security benefits; why it is important to plan together with a spouse and strategies that can be used to boost retirement and survivor’s benefits; and how working after a person begins receiving Social Security could affect how much he or she receives.
