Senior midfielder James Hutchinson booted a 13-yard free kick into the back of the net with 15:59 remaining in regulation for the game-winner for the Eagles (6-1).

Senior midfielder Maulid Abdow tied the game at 1-1 in the second half for the Blue Devils (6-1). Abdow had another opportunity with less than 10 seconds remaining, but Eagles keeper Gavin Patterson deprived Lewiston with a spectacular save.

Buckfield 4, Rangeley 0

RANGELEY — Sophomore right wing Noah Wiley scored the first goal of the contest as Buckfield trotted off with a 4-0 shutout victor over Rangeley in EWC boys’ soccer action Friday afternoon.

The Lakers (2-3-2) kept pace with the Bucks (4-1-1) in a scoreless first half. However, Wiley opened the floodgates in the second stanza with Ethan Jackson netting a 30-yard tally to cap the scoring for Buckfield.

Senior striker Matt Beaucage contributed a pair of assists for Buckfield.

Goalie Hunter Lowell made 13 saves for Rangeley, while goalie Jacob Kraske stopped nine to earn the win in net for Buckfield.

Edward Little 5, Camden Hills 2

CAMDEN — After jumping out to a 2-0 advantage in the first frame, Edward Little kept the offense in high gear and went on to claim a 5-2 victory over Camden Hills in a midseason boys’ soccer tilt Friday. 

Jared Norcross-Plourde led the Red Eddies (5-2) with a hat trick, while Tyler morin and Ahmed Safi also tallied. Kieran Lydon and Marshall Merriam each scored a goal for Camden Hills (5-2). 

Owen Mower made six saves for Edward Little, while Lucas Boetsch turned aside 14 shots for the Windjammers. 

Field hockey

Dirigo 1, Mountain Valley 0

DIXFIELD — Sophia Jacques converted a pass from Olivia Noyes with 4:27 left in the first half to give Dirigo a 1-0 midseason field hockey win over Mountain Valley on Friday. 

Morgan Morrow made five saves for the Cougars to preserve the shutout, while Alyssa Akers turned aside five shots between the posts for Mountain Valley. 

Lake Region 0, Gray-New Gloucester 0, 2OT

GRAY — The Lake Region and Gray-New Gloucester field hockey squads played through two overtime sessions yet still had to settle for a 0-0 stalemate in more local mid-season field hockey action Friday. 

Maddie Nelson made nine saves for the Lakers, while Alicia Credit deflected nine shots for the Patriots. 

Lisbon 3, Boothbay 2, 2OT

LISBON — Morgan Fenderson fired a well-timed shot into the net with just 2:50 left in the second overtime to give Lisbon a 3-2 victory over Boothbay on Friday. 

Lexi Lane gave the Seahawks (4-3-1) a 1-0 lead in the first half. Sydney Plourde and Peyton Gosselin scored for the Greyhounds (5-3) in the second half before Sydney Meader tied the game for Boothbay. 

Mikaylia Harnden made 14 saves for Lisbon, while Erica Eames turned aside 19 shots for Boothbay. 

Oak Hill 11, Telstar 1

WALES — Lexi Fuller scored a hat trick as Oak Hill crushed Telstar 11-1 in field hockey action Friday afternoon.

The Raiders (8-1) took a 6-0 lead at the half.

Natasha Hart converted a relay from Wynter Morin in the second half for the Rebels (0-9) to spoil the shutout.

Goalie Perry Morton made 34 saves for Telstar, while goalie Mackenzie Thibeault turned away two for the win in net for Oak Hill.

Girls’ soccer

Lewiston 1, Mt. Ararat 0

LEWISTON — Maddy Foster finished a loose ball with just 3:32 remaining in the first half to give Lewiston a 1-0 mid-season girls’ soccer victory over Mt. Ararat on Friday. 

Taylor Chamberlain needed only three saves for the Blue Devils (4-2-1) to notch the shutout, while Kate Guerin turned aside 11 shots for the Eagles (4-3). 

The Blue Devils outshot their opponents 12-3 and found the net when it counted. 

Buckfield 2, Rangeley 0

RANGELEY — Buckfield earned a 2-0 shutout over Rangeley in girls’ soccer action on Friday with a goal in each half.

Kali Litchfield opened the scoring in the first half with Katie Henderson and Hannah Shields assisting on the goal. Julia Dow scored in the second half.

Rachael Warren made two saves for Buckfield (4-2), while Amber Morrill made four saves for Rangeley (3-3).

Oceanside 3, Leavitt 0

ROCKLAND — Kesley Brooks scored a goal in each half as Oceanside cruised to a 3-0 victory over Leavitt in girls’ soccer action Friday afternoon.

The Mariners dominated on offense, outscoring the Hornets by a margin of 16-0.

Gabrielle Straka put the Mariners on the board first with a blast from the 18-yard line three minutes into the contest.

Goalies Allie Roux and Shelby Varney shared the netminding dutes for the Hornets, combining for 13 saves in the losing effort.

High school football

Wells 49, Mtn. Valley 6

WELLS — Evan Whitten ran for three touchdowns in the second quarter to give host Wells a commanding lead it didn’t relinquish as part of a 49-6 victory over Mountain Valley in a Class C South football clash at Warrior Memorial Field on Friday night.

The Warriors (4-0) were already up 15-0 heading into the second quarter, thanks to TD runs from Riley Dempsey and Chad Fitzpatrick and a safety, then Whitten reeled off runs of 12, 40 and 34 to give Wells 35 points at halftime.

Kyle Farrar scored the Falcons’ only points on an 88-yard scoring scamper in the second quarter.

Tyler Bridge ran for a score in the second half, and Fitzpatrick had his second TD run to close out the scoring.

College Soccer

University of Maine-Machias 1, CMCC 0

AUBURN — Lorenzo Segura converted a pass from Salvador Silva at the 69:50 mark to give the University of Maine at Machias a 1-0 victory over Central Maine Community College in a mens’ soccer tilt Friday. 

Tristan Huot needed only two saves to notch the shutout, while former Lewiston standout and state championship keeper Austin Wing turned aside three shots for the Mustangs (1-4).
