1929 – 2016

AUBURN — L. Avis Grant, 87, of Auburn died Sunday, Sept. 25, at the Odd Fellows’ Nursing Home, with her family by her side.

She was born in East Corinth on June 29, 1929, the daughter of the late Carlton and Phyllis (Campbell) Palmer and had been a resident of this community for most of her life. She was married to Norman L. Grant, who predeceased her.

She was employed as an office clerk for J.L. Hayes in Auburn for many years, until her retirement.

Avis was a member of the United Methodist Church in Auburn and had been a longtime volunteer there at the church.

She is survived by one daughter, Pamela Andruskevich and her husband, Greg, of Nashua, N.H.; three sons, Dale Gagnon and Calvin Grant, both of Auburn and David Gagnon and his wife, Terry, of Inverness, Fla.; four grandchildren, Eric and Tim Grant, Brandon Gagnon and Sara Sokolowski and her husband, Brian; twin great-grandsons, Alex and Owen, who were born on Avis’ 80th birthday; two great-granddaughters, Dusti and Saige; one sister, Rosalie Conant of Dalton, Mass.; and one brother, Richard Palmer and his wife, Maria of Montgomery, Ala.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by one brother, James C. Palmer.
