1923 – 2016

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Joseph R. Theriault, 93, of Fort Myers, Fla., passed away Thursday, Sept. 29.

He was born May 21, 1923, in Lewiston, to parents Eugene and Olivine (Desjardins) Theriault.

He was a volunteer at the Lion’s club in Bonita Springs, Fla., for many years.

In his retirement, he enjoyed roller skating, cruising, traveling, dancing and spending time with his loved ones. After his discharge from the U.S. Army Air Corps, he worked for a short time as a machinist in Connecticut. He joined the Lewiston Fire Department in June 1948, and retired on Aug. 14, 1976, as the superintendent of the fire alarm system.

Joseph is survived by his brother, Rene (Pete) Theriault of Lewiston; his loving companion, Bettianne Trauth of Fort Myers, Fla.; daughter, Doris (Dee) and her husband, Walter Cote, of North Port, Fla.; son, George (Terry) and his wife, Gale Theriault, of Belgrade; and daughter, Irene and husband, Gerry Lagasse, of Lewiston. He is also survived by several grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

He was predeceased by his parents; and two wives, Anita (Martel) and Jean (Valentine).

He will remain loved by many and missed by all who knew him.
