NEW SHARON — A Nobleboro woman was injured Monday when the pickup she was riding in struck the rear of a stopped truck on Route 2 near the Post Office Road intersection.

A truck driven by Robert St. Pierre, 72, of Industry was stopped and waiting to turn left onto Post Office Road when a truck driven by Christopher Hagar, 51, of Nobleboro rear-ended it, Deputy Brad Scovil of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said.

A passenger in Hagar’s truck, Roxanne Hagar, 70, of Nobleboro was injured and taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington by a NorthStar EMS ambulance, Scovil said.

Hagar did not have life-threatening injuries, Scovil said.

St. Pierre and his passenger, Willis Cushman, 69, of Starks, were not injured.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Another mishap occurred while vehicles were slowing and waiting to be detoured near Sandy River Farm Supply on Route 2. No one was injured. There was minor damage when a Chevrolet pickup driven by David Lidstone, 45, of New Sharon rear-ended a Volvo sport utility vehicle in front of him, Scovil said.

Lidstone was distracted by the crash ahead and failed to see how close the vehicle was in front of him, the deputy said.

Volvo driver Nathan Mangin, 37, of Farmingdale, and his wife, Melissa, 33, and their three children were OK. They had all been wearing seat belts and the children were secured in safety seats.

Scovil issued Lidstone a summons for violation of failing to produce evidence of insurance.
