1929 – 2016

FARMINGTON — Wilfred “Willy Bub” Dumont, of Farmington passed peacefully Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 12, surrounded by the loving staff, who become his family.

Willy, born April 9, 1929, in Detroit, Mich., was a tinkerer. He deeply enjoyed putting two items together, spending hours to find the perfect items which combined and made his masterpiece. He found comfort in being himself and knowing his staff was present for support, when times became tough.

Those who knew him best, remember Willy’s smile and how his blue eyes twinkled, through devilish antics and loveable moments. He taught us, your age does not define your ability to live your life. Willy had a very unique way of communicating. He taught so many people in his life new ways to communicate with one another that included listening with one’s eyes and ears and to not simply make assumptions.

He was proceeded by his sister, Mary Dumont (passing 1929); mother, Emily McLaughlin (passing 1939); and father, Wilford Dumont (passing 1964). Wilfred had a sister, Lorette Dumont Dancause, of Canada. Wilfred lived many places throughout his life, but found home with LEAP’s Our House, since 1980.

On behalf of Wilfred, LEAP would like to thank all his supporters through the years and a special gratitude to those who become his family.
