1917 – 2016


, 99, died Friday, Oct. 14, at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston. 

She was born May 29, 1917, the daughter of Edmond and Anna (Smith) Jutras. She married Theode St. Germain on Oct. 12, 1940. He predeceased her on May 5, 1993. 

She was blessed with a very long and happy life, always smiling and never, ever saying anything bad about anyone. She was a devout Catholic, belonging to Holy Cross Church from her days on Scribner Boulevard in Lewiston.

She is survived by two sons and their wives, Raymond and Anita and David and Sharon, of Auburn; six grandchildren, Renee Fortin of Lewiston, Denise St. Germain of Winthrop, John St. Germain of Saco, Andre St. Germain of Winthrop, Justin St. Germain of Poland and Ethan St. Germain of Vail, Colo.; eight great-grandchildren, Jessica Early and Brianna Young of North Carolina, Dylan Fortin of Auburn, Zakary and Samuel St. Germain of Winthrop, Elloise St. Germain of Saco, Quincy St. Germain of Vail, Colo. and Simone St. Germain of Poland; two great-great-granddaughters, Eden and Alaina Young of North Carolina; and one sister, Germaine Boucher of Bangor.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; two sons, Philip in 1968 and Richard in 2012; seven sisters, Jeanne Marquis, Lucille Masson, Fleurette Carrier, Simonne Goudreau, Therese Marcoux, Gertrude Picard and Lucia Goulet; and three brothers, Gerard, Roger and Marcel Jutras.

We would like to thank the Chapman House staff for all the love and care she received during the five years she made her home with them. Thank you as well to the nurses at d’Youville in the rehab department and the nurses of Androscoggin Hospice Care. Last, but not least, our heartfelt gratitude goes to Dr. Jeff Brown. He was her doctor for many, many years and she loved and trusted him.
