LEWISTON — The Lewiston Winter Farmers Market has announced its new location inside the YWCA on East Avenue for the 2016-17 season.

The venue offers plentiful parking, a wheelchair-accessible entrance, a large accommodating event space, and opportunities to engage with additional programs offered through the YWCA.

The winter markets will be held will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays at the YWCA, with the first market Oct. 23. The market will be held every other week through February 2017.

It offers seasonal fruits and vegetables, meats, dairy products, artisan cheese, fresh bread, baked goods, prepared meals, fiber arts, handcrafted soaps and more.

The market accepts cash, checks, credit/debit cards, and Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program benefits, formerly known as food stamps.

The market will continue to participate in the statewide Maine Harvest Bucks program, which provides SNAP beneficiaries with bonus vouchers to purchase more fresh fruits and vegetables.

There is also a Market Rewards program which rewards regular customers for their loyalty, and a Seniors and Veterans Day program which provides seniors older than 62 and veterans with gift certificates to the first Sunday market of every month.
