1918 – 2016

LEWISTON — Anita C. Baribault, 98, of Lewiston transitioned to the higher Life in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Oct. 19, in the presence of her two children, at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion.

Anita was born March 16, 1918, to Napoleon Rodrigue and Melina Pomerleau. Raised in Lewiston, she attended St. Mary’s School and studied at ACME Business College.

After World War II, Anita met her future husband, Edward Baribault, whom she married in 1947. A watchmaker, Edward later opened his own store, E. Baribault Jewelers on Lisbon Street, in which Anita worked with her beloved husband until their retirement.

She was active all of her life and involved in numerous community activities. She was an avid bowler and golfer, serving as president of the Apple Valley Ladies League and the Ladies of Prospect Hill. She did volunteer work for the Catholic Charities SEARCH program, and also served as a Eucharistic minister at d’Youville Pavilion. At Holy Cross parish, she belonged to the Ladies of St. Anne, serving as one of its presidents.

She is survived by her children, Paul of Lewiston and Suzanne of Brunswick; grandchildren, Elise Baribault, Julie and Doug LeBlanc; and four great-grandchildren; and by many cherished nieces and nephews.

Anita was predeceased by her loving husband of 49 years, in 1996; by her brothers, Pete and Gerard Rodrigue; and her sister, Jeanne d’Arc Biron; and by numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law.
