1923 – 2016

LEWISTON — Barbara Louise (Millett) Ray, 93, passed away peacefully at d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston on Tuesday, Oct. 18.

She was born Sept. 20, 1923, in Auburn, the daughter of the late Willis and Mildred (Thompson) Millett.

Barbara married Virgil Ray Jr., and they shared a loving marriage of 64 years. To her, family was the most important part of life. Her three grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she was “Gigi” to seven great-grandchildren. They were all said to be the twinkle in her eye. Barbara was a dedicated New England sports fan, especially the Red Sox and the Patriots. She loved her friends at the townhouse, and was known to be a true friend to all. She enjoyed eating out and spending time during the holidays with her family. She was a manager of the Walton School food services for many years.

Barbara is survived by one son, Bruce, and his wife, Sheila, of Turner; three grandchildren, Matthew Ray and his wife, Krystine, Mary Jane Forgues and her husband, Tom, and Benjamin and Ali Ray; seven great-grandchildren, Emma, Gracie and Piper Forgues, Izabella and Abigail Ray, Atticus and Harlow Ray; and many nephews; and one niece.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; her two sisters, Helen and Nelda.
