FARMINGTON — A couple lost all of their belongings Monday evening when fire destroyed their rented late-model mobile home at 119 Lamkin Lane.

David and Amanda Hawkes told firefighters they heard a funny noise and looked down the hall toward the back of the trailer and saw a glow, Deputy Fire Chief Tim Hardy said.

The home is owned by Jon and Lois Bubier and is in a trailer park behind their store, Ron’s Market on High Street.

The blaze started shortly after 5 p.m., Hardy said. An investigator from the State Fire Marshal’s Office was expected to arrive Tuesday morning to help determine the cause.

The home was a total loss, Hardy said. It was in flames when members of Farmington Fire and Rescue arrived. The Fire Department is less than half a mile from the home.

The American Red Cross was helping the couple Monday evening.
