LEWISTON — An award-winning writer and college student has announced the launch of a magazine about Lewiston-Auburn with a launch event scheduled for Oct. 28 at the Dolard and Priscilla Gendron Franco Center.
Led by Lewiston resident Fadumo Musse, a 21-year-old writer and University of Maine engineering student, the mission of the magazine is to profile and report on interesting people, places and events in Lewiston.
The first issue is called Faces of Change: The story of an All-American City, and will feature prominent figures, everyday citizens, recent immigrants and individuals sharing their stories.
The launch event for the first issue will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 28. The keynote speaker will be Ben Chin.
Other speakers will be Phil Nadeau, Lewiston deputy city administrator, and Lincoln Jeffers, director of Economic and Community Development for Lewiston.
The show will also feature music, a fashion show and a dance.
Future issues of the magazine will offer themes including students and education, entrepreneurship, fashion, beauty and health, and making a difference in a community.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students. The Franco Center is at 46 Cedar St. and the public is invited.
