The constant and never-ending raising of taxes on families struggling to make ends meet.

Gov. Paul LePage wants to eliminate the state income tax. Do you support that? If not, why not?

Yes, but we need to be careful and make sure we are actually cutting taxes and not simply shifting them and raising people’s property taxes in the process. We can cut taxes by reducing the size and cost of state government.

Are you willing to support raising the fuel tax to fix Maine roads? If not, why not?

No. Money designated to fix is always misdirected and the burden of tax falls on small business and working families. There is enough money in the state budget to properly take care of our roads, we just need to do a better job of prioritizing our spending in Augusta.

I think the Legislature was on the right track last year when they added more drug enforcement agents and more money to treatment. We need to stay on that course.
