Two local food closets received cash and food donations from the first annual 1980s Rock Extravaganza sponsored by the FUNdraisers.

Checks totaling $1,340 and 280 pounds of donated food were presented to Kitty McDonald of the Wilton Area Food Pantry and Leiza Hiltz Scerbo of the Farmington Care and Share Food Closet.

The FUNdraisers, a special projects division of Neighbors Helping Neighbors of Franklin County, was formed for the purpose of staging entertaining local events that contribute to other local volunteer organizations having a significant impact on health and well-being of community members.

It was very apparent to members of the Neighbors Helping Neighbors board that the Wilton and Farmington food pantries play a huge role in maintaining the vitality of their respective communities. For this reason, they were chosen to receive the proceeds from this first event.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors is an all-volunteer organization affiliated with Western Maine Community Action.

Charitable contributions to NHN may be written to Western Maine Community Action noting “NHN” in the memo line and sent to Neighbors Helping Neighbors, 171 Davis Road, Farmington, ME 04938.
