OTISFIELD — The Board of Selectmen voted Wednesday evening to approve application renewals for three junkyards, Administrative Assistant Anne Pastore said.

The approvals were for Lenny Adler, Richard Bean and Peter Arntsen, Pastore said.

Adler, who is a selectman, recused himself from the vote to avoid a conflict of interest.

In other business, the board received an update on recent renovations to the Otisfield Community Hall. Pastore said the hall is an old structure and “years back, the town voted to keep it.”

“Every few years, we like to do some work on it,” she said. “Recently, we changed the old fluorescent bulbs to LED lighting, and installed some safety lights on the exterior.”

She said the exterior lights will make the property safer in December, when the town holds its Christmas tree-lighting ceremony.

Pastore said the board also received a report from Fire Chief Kyle Jordan about the new first responder SUV the Fire Department purchased.

Jordan said he and Deputy Chief Jared Damon drove to Buffalo, New York, to pick up the Chevrolet Suburban purchased from GTA Fleet Solutions Inc. of Markham, Ontario. He said EMS Chief Beth Damon and EMT Jeni Jordan also accompanied them.

Jordan said the vehicle is at the Spurr’s Corner Fire Station and he hopes to have lettering and reflective striping on it, along with a radio.

He said he hopes to have the vehicle in service by mid-December.
