Outlook: The Bobcats have an experienced group returning, including several players with starting experience. Coppola, Connors, Davenport, Henshaw and Emily Freedman be the starting lineup to open the season. … Connors will run the point, but Montgomery wants to put her at shooting guard at times so she can be more of a scorer. Another point guard, Binkhorst, is injured to start the season. … The Bobcats didn’t lack shooters in 2015-16, but struggled to shoot; this year, the team has set goals to improve its shooting percentage. … Montgomery said Bates will be a “really scrappy defensive team.”
Coach’s comment: “We have a lot of returners back, four returning starters, so some nice veteran leadership that we’re really excited about. Some new kids as well: we have three freshmen who I think are all going to help us, at least in some way, this year.”
